Kids Smoothies

Smoothies are a great way to boost your child’s nutrient and vitamin daily intake. We all know that children love sweets, so it would be great to accustom them to some delicious smoothies that are healthy, nutritious, and tasty.

Fruits and veggies are the first foods that mothers introduce into their babies’ diet, so it is only natural that children need to eat lots of them. Veggies are very beneficial for your child’s health, so it is a very good idea to make a delicious smoothie that incorporates these too. There are easy-to-make smoothies from combinations of fruits, veggies and other yummy ingredients that you can prepare for your child.

Reasons to make smoothies for kids

  • Smoothies provide lots of vitamins and other important nutrients that are very important for your child’s development.
  • Kids already love fruit so smoothies can be a delicious snack or dessert instead of teeth-rotting sweets.
  • Smoothies are an easy way to make your child eat some healthy veggie which they would otherwise avoid.
  • Children are very active and need lots of energy. Smoothies are a perfect source of energy to sustain a child during their activities.
  • Smoothies contain many enzymes which help promote a healthy digestion and a strong immune system.
  • Smoothies are free of additives and other added chemicals that store-bought juices often contain.
  • Smoothies are easy and fast to make, which is perfect because mothers are always very busy.

Besides the fact that smoothies are very beneficial for your child’s health, making smoothies can also be a fun activity that you can enjoy with your kids. Making stuff is what children like best, so preparing smoothies can become a creative and engaging daily routine for kids and their parents.

Smoothies that kids love

There are many creative healthy smoothies that even the pickiest eater will not resist. Here are some great suggestions for creating a smoothie that kids will adore.

Amazing berry smoothie

We all know that kids are crazy about berries. Make a tasty berry smoothie that you can serve for breakfast, and your kids will think is dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of cranberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries (use all or any)
  • ½ cup of yogurt (organic if you can find)
  • 1 frozen banana (if you use frozen berries, use a normal banana)
  • Ground walnuts or almonds

Blend all the ingredients and add the ground walnuts on top. This is a great nutritious smoothie that is easy to make and doesn’t require too many special ingredients.

Tips

  • You can add 2-3 leaves of baby spinach to any smoothie and no one will notice
  • Cranberries are a natural antibiotic and a superfood that you can buy fresh or dry
  • If your child can’t have dairy, use almond milk instead (make it yourself or buy it from  health stores)

Delicious green smoothie for kids

Green veggies are not most children’s favorites, but fortunately you can hide their taste by mixing them with fruits. Green leaves can be incorporated very easily into fruit smoothies. Start with a small quantity of green leaves that don’t have a very strong aroma, for example:

Kale, parley, spinach, strawberry leaves, dandelion leaves, red beet leaves, cabbage leaves

Ingredients

  • 5-6 leaves of your chosen green leafy vegetable
  • 2 kiwis
  • 1 frozen banana
  • Juice from half a lemon (to prevent oxidation)
  • Water
  • Stevia sweetener (natural sweetener with 0 calories and 0 sugars)

Cut up all the fruits and place inside the blender. Pour about 2-3 glasses of water depending on how thick you want the smoothie to be. Squeeze half a lemon inside and add the green leaves. Blend for a few minutes and if you are not happy with the taste, either add another banana or about 10-20 drops of Stevia. This smoothie tastes like a liquid ice-cream due to the kiwi and banana flavors. Your kids won’t be able to smell or taste the green leaves, but they will get all the benefits of anti-oxidant and chlorophyll rich greens.
