If you are a fitness freak then consider including absolutely raw food smoothies in your diet to get the required nutrition for your body. A real ‘raw food’ smoothie usually includes some fruits and a lot of other raw ingredients. The fruits help curb the taste of raw ingredients that wouldn’t taste so good if blended alone.

More fruits, less greens!

Although you will mostly use the raw foods that you like eating, this is a good way to consume a wide range of raw foods, even those that you know are healthy but don’t like eating.  You can experiment with a variety of fruits and leafy greens to create your own personal formula for a healthy and nutritious smoothie. The recipes are only limited by your creativity and the availability of leafy greens and fresh fruits. If you do not like the taste of raw foods, try to include as many fruits as you can. As long as you include enough fresh fruits, you can mask the flavor of anything that you don’t like.

More greens, less fruits!

You may include different greens with a strong taste but be prepared for strange and not-so-familiar flavors. For instance, adding Arugula to your smoothie will add a slight twang to it. If you are making raw food smoothies for the first time, be careful about adding too much green leafy stuff to your drink or else it might give you a nauseous feeling. If that occurs, try to reduce the amount of raw food included in the drink. Start with fewer amounts of greens and more fruits, and slowly start adding more vegetables so that you can adapt to the taste. Eventually, your tolerance for green leafy vegetables will grow over time

Blending raw foods properly is not as easy as blending fruits, hence if you don’t want your smoothie experience to be spoilt with chunks of vegetables then invest in a good blender that will pulverize anything that you put inside it. There are many high speed power blenders available in the market that can perfectly blend fruits and vegetables together to give you a raw food smoothie that contains essential minerals, vitamins, and other important nutrients.
