Strawberry Banana Yogurt Smoothie

If you have some left-over yogurt looking lonely in the fridge then why not use it to create a delicious smoothie.

Yogurt is rich in protein, vitamin B, riboflavin and calcium.  Yogurt has more nutritional benefits than milk and often individuals can tolerate yogurt better than other dairy products. Yogurt contains varying amounts of fat meaning that you can control the amount that you will consume in your smoothie and therefore potentially enjoy some weight loss.

Yogurt is a recognised health food for both infants and the elderly. It is also a balanced source of protein, fats, carbohydrates, and minerals for children and adolescents. Although not proven it has been suggested that yogurt may also prevent osteoporosis and reduce the risk of high blood pressure.

One of my favorite smoothie recipes is ‘strawberry banana yogurt’ as it makes a perfect combination of fruit and dairy.

Oatmeal Yogurt Smoothie

Great Oats!

The key ingredient in this smoothie is Greek yogurt. In this particular recipe, any flavor of yogurt can be used to customize the flavor of this smoothie.

 

Ingredients:

1 Cup of Greek Yogurt, any flavor

1 Cup of Rolled Oats

1 tsp. of Honey

1 Cup of Fat Free Milk

 

Steps:

  1. Add all of the ingredients to the blender
  2. Blend until smooth

 

Yogurt Smoothie Tip: Most yogurt flavors can be enhanced with a dash of cinnamon, try adding cinnamon to the blender or try garnishing your smoothie with a sprinkle of it.

Banana Smoothie

Breakfast Bliss

They key ingredient in this smoothie is banana flavored Greek Yogurt.

Ingredients:

1 Cup of Banana Flavored Greek Yogurt

2 Bananas

1 Cup of Fat Free Milk

 

Steps:

  1. Cut the bananas into ½ inch slices
  2. Add all of the ingredients to the blender
  3. Blend until smooth

 

Yogurt Smoothie Tip: For this banana smoothie, try adding your favorite nuts to the recipe with a dash of cinnamon to gives this smoothie a similar taste to a banana nut muffin.

Almond Yogurt Smoothie

Yummy Yogurt Smoothie

The key ingredient in this smoothie is almond. When mixed into a yogurt smoothie, almonds give the smoothie a nutty crunch.

Ingredients:

½ Cup of Almonds
1 Banana
1 Cup of Vanilla Greek Yogurt
1 Cup of Almond Milk
2-3 Ice cubes

Steps:

1. Cut the banana into half inch slices
2. Add all of the ingredients to the blender
3. Blend until smooth

Yogurt Smoothie Tip: To sweeten a yogurt smoothie, adding a teaspoon of honey will do the trick.

Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie

Berry choices for your smoothie…

The key ingredient in this smoothie is blueberry flavored Greek Yogurt. Greek yogurt is high in protein and also very filling, which makes it great to use in smoothies.

Ingredients:

½ Cup of Blueberries
1 Cup of Blueberry Greek Yogurt
½ tsp. of Honey
1 Cup of Fat Free Milk
3-4 Ice Cubes

Steps:

1. Add all of the ingredients to the blender
2. Blend until smooth

Yogurt Smoothie Tip: For recipes with berries, try using different berry flavored Greek yogurts for different tastes.
